Spring 2026 Student Election Results Released
The spring 2026 student government election results were released on May 7 for the Wilf Campus and May 12 for the Beren Campus.
Voting took place on CampusGroups in May to elect students to 28 government roles: 17 on the Wilf Campus and 11 on the Beren Campus. The Wilf elections garnered a record 865 votes, according to an email from Nissim Farhy and the Wilf Canvassing Committee.
Gideon Rone (YC ‘27) was elected president of Yeshiva Student Union (YSU), and Ellie Weisberg (SCW ‘27) was voted president of Beren Campus Student Government (BCSG).
Rone is from Baltimore and is studying political science. “I’m incredibly humbled and grateful to have been elected YSU President,” Rone told The Commentator. “I’ve spent the past two years realizing just how unique Yeshiva University is — not only as an institution of higher education, but as a community built around Jewish values and a shared purpose.”
Rone told The Commentator what he aims to accomplish as president:
“One of my biggest goals as president is helping students feel that YU is more than just a stop on the way to a career, but a place where they genuinely enjoy spending their time and building meaningful relationships,” he said.
“Our student government team is already working on initiatives to strengthen student life and create intentional and enjoyable student experiences,” he added. “Just as importantly, we want to hear directly from students about what they want to see improved … I’m excited for what’s ahead and eager to work together to make YU an even stronger and more vibrant community.”
Weisberg is a biology major from Teaneck, N.J., and was junior features editor for The Commentator last year. “I am really excited and honored to be the next BCSG president!” she said.
Weisberg looks to foster a welcoming student environment as president:
“My hope is that I can continue in my predecessors’ footsteps to create a culture where the students at Stern feel heard and at home. I’m excited to work with and learn from the amazing team at OSL and the next BCSG members!”
In addition to the positions filled, the Wilf students voted in favor of three constitutional amendments, according to the email. The first “restricts OSL and the YU administration’s ability to disqualify candidates for student government positions,” while the second “makes minor technical changes to the text of the WCSG Constitution.” This includes the addition of a constitutional clause requiring officials to remain full-time students while in office and a rule that YSU class representatives can only be voted in by members of their class. The third amendment “establishes new academic councils to represent students in YC and SSSB.”
Below are the results of the respective elections, provided by Farhy’s email and a WhatsApp message from outgoing BCSG President Betty Khirman. The Beren Campus is not obligated by its student constitution to release voting figures.
