My First Post - An Outline for the Blog

This is the world's most dangerous substack - an idea founded out of my impending boredom. I'm at a pivotal moment in my life. I'm a week away from graduating college and I've never had this much free time in my life. Ever since I can remember I had something to do when I came home from school. Middle school and high school it was sports. In college it was homework and sports. But once I enter the workforce I'll have my nights free. After 23 years of occupied nights I'll be scot free. It's exciting but also a bit daunting. I like being productive and the thought of having nothing to do when I come home will feel a bit weird. And here's how this project was born.

One of my other "flaws" is that I sometimes lack the motivation to see an article or essay through to the end in one sitting. I'll have an idea but it will marinate in my mind for weeks until I actually start to put pen to paper. Even after I put the pen to paper, I'll take a few more days (if not weeks) to actually go ahead and write the piece. After the rounds of editing and publication process, in this case for the school paper, the total time from idea to publication will be around a month. That's too long in my eyes. I want to have an idea, write it and publish it within the same day. The World's Most Dangerous Writing App is therefore my savior on three accounts.

First, it won't take too much of my time. I mean I'm still a young adult. I'll want to do other things with my free time. Overproductivity can be bad if not handled properly and channeled or often quelled. By alloting myself only 10 minutes to write, I'll be able to a) write more pieces and b) not go through days of thinking through ideas. I just have to write.

Second, the ideas are there for me. The world's most dangerous writing app generates prompts for you. The user just has to continue writing and make sure he/she doesn't stop for more than 5 seconds. For this first post, I wanted to give an introduction to the idea of this page but in other posts I hope to just be publishing my fiction.

Lastly, as mentioned in bullet 2, there's no time for overthinking. If you stop writing for more than 5 seconds, the website deletes all your work. You have to be productive - if only for 10 minutes. I don't want to think about editing, rewriting, or publishing. There may be grammatical errors or even errors to a greater degree but I won't be changing them. I just want to write; I'll see what flows naturally and let the writing show the creativity. The initial creativity rather than just rounds and rounds of rewrites.

As I write this, I'm realizing how hard it will be to write out these posts within 10 minutes and without editing. But I'm also excited. This will be a nice side project for me post-graduation. A way to hopefully improve my writing, get my voice out there, explore the creative side of my brain and be productive.

I don't know what will be posted here. It will hopefully be a lot of fiction just based on the websites prompts. But it may also be a travel blog, a philosophy journal, or a sometimes too revealing diary. It will just be a brain dump and my own way of processing thoughts. I hope you enjoy...
