She had made a poor job of hiding the damage
She had made a poor job of hiding the damage. She looked around frantically, head jerking from left to right, surveying the damage she had done. An overturned cabinet, papers strewn across the floor, cushions ripped in half, their stuffing gone along with them. She hadn't meant for it to go this far. She was looking for his journal an dknew it must have been here. She had heard him say something about it last night.
"It's not a diary - more of a journal," he had said, in a shrug of the shoulder kind of way, clearly not thinking it would mean much to Aliena.
If he had been looking at her, if he ever looked at her, he would have seen her expression change. He would have seen her ears perk up, her eyebrows flit to the top of her head, and her eyes widen.
"A diary," Aliena thought to herself, or was it out loud, she couldn't remember. If he had any thoughts or feelings for her, they would be spelled out there. She needed to know.
2 years of playing the long game. 2 years of helping with his homework, giving him rides home, and being the shoulder for him to cry on when Sarah had broken his heart.
She had invested 2 years into Alex without so much as a flirtatious remark. The confusion was too much for her. No more. Aliena had vowed then and there to find the diary. She just didn't think her search would have gone this far.
