The whole family had been cursed since
The whole family had been cursed since Alex entered that odd cave last November. They had been on their annual family road trip. They had stopped over in Montana for a few days as they had the past few summers. For some reason, Brett's wife, Stephanie, suggested they deviate from their usual itinerary. "Let's try out Deer Head Park this year," she had suggested. Not one opposed to adventure, Brett acquiesced - it was only an extra few hours off their usual charted course.
They had rented a campsite that first night and decided that the next day they would explore the mountains nearby. Brett, Stephanie, Alex and Sarah had been a normal family up until last November. Brett worked as a lawyer, Stephanie a teacher, and their two kids were little troublemakers - Alex in the 1st grade and Sarah in third.
They ventured out that first day with no plans in mind besides a simple exploration; they wanted to get a feel for Deer Head park. Brett had chosen a certain trail that looked appealing and, just like that, they went on their way.
It had only been 20 minutes into the trail walk when they first heard the rumble. It was low at first, a supernatural sigh. None of them could make it out at first - Sarah, in her high pitched 8 year old voice piped up and suggested it was even a bear.
The sighing stopped and they continued on their way. After 20 minutes more, the rumble was overbearing. They felt it shake their feet, it reverberated through their chests. They all clutched their chests to try and stop the sensation but they couldn't find a way to make it stop. After a few more seconds, it subsided, but they had all been adequately frightened. Alex, the 5 year old that he was, simply wanted answers. He had always possessed a curious mind. He started running further down the trail, oblivious to his family's cries to slow down. He sprinted as fast as he could - seeking only to get closer to the source of the rumble.
And then he saw it - the cave. It was nestled in the side of the mountain about 100 feet off the trail. A green glow emitted from it - pulsing like a heaetbeat. He saw shadows flicker off the cave wall - their form unlike anything he'd seen. Alex began to scramble up the rocks in hopes of entering the cave. Brett, Sarah, and Stephanie made it to point in the trail when Alex was just about to enter the cave. "ALEX...DON'T!" they had all cried out. Alex entered the cave nonetheless. This was the start of their misfortunes. It was last November that Alex had gone missing and their whole life had changed.
