Aftersun (2022)

I'm not sure exactly what happened but I was mesmerized. I kept waiting for something big to happen and nothing ever did. It was a meditative movie - a chance to grow with this father and daughter and feel as if you're a part of their lives. The "point" of the movie is not for anything to happen but exactly the opposite - for nothing to happen. And yet, it still felt like there was something big lurking in the background; and I'm sure there was. The cutting between past and present, the strobe light dance floor, little details or moments here and there that give off an eery or emotional vibe, all leave you unsettled without taking you away from the experience of falling into the world of the movie. This was special.
