Take This Waltz (2011)

★★★★

I'm blown away - this was really really good. Let's get the filmmaking praise out of the way; the lighting, cinematography and unabashed use of really vibrant color was really great and so refreshing in the grayed out media landscape we live in now. Felt even too colorful sometimes.

Margot sucks. I'm assuming the character was written to be infantile, and that's why Michelle Williams plays her that way, with the baby voice sometimes and the way she acts. The topics explored here, the infidelity and pursuit of something different when you're bored in your current situation, are ones I hadn't seen explored with this much honesty and rawness. This doesn't feel like a Hollywood movie - it goes down sad, unhappy ending paths and just leaves you to sit with the scenes.

Seth rogen doing a great job here. The camera on him with his reaction is some top notch acting. And the new apartment montage at the end was some brilliant filmmaking. Honestly there were so many shots and scenes that I really really appreciated.

Great film
