The Princess Diaries (2001)

Imagine something like this being made nowadays. Would probably be some throwaway Netflix shlock that would be forgotten about a week after it came out. What made these so much better?
They definitely looked better - shooting on film makes it feel more real always.
The music is actually composed by competent composers and not some generic thing
And yeah a movie with Julie Andrews in one of the lead roles and, at that point just introduced but still great Anne Hathaway.
It's a lost art form making kids movies competent. Im remembering that especially after rewatching this and Parent Trap recently.

Maybe "Are you there god it's me Margaret" was the closest we got, but even that I don't see people talking about. Have we lost the ability? Or has the industry/audience lost the desire not even to make these types of movies good but even passable
