Paris Is Burning (1990)

★★★★½

Really really well made. Powerful. I don't watch enough documentaries but I think this is going to change that. Film is such an important way of capturing a time period, an experience, a small, underexposed part of the world or a society or a community. And to also make it fun.
There was no shortage of important, revealing, sad, but accepting, talking head moments. But the movie also makes the whole world that this community had so lively. Music plays throughout and the movie just moves. Also to see New York in the 80s. Maybe not the New York everyone experienced, but even to see just one side of a city I love and view it in a new way to me is pretty cool.
